Featured G+’er : Sofia Pichihua
How did you originally get invited to Google+?
Some friends mentioned me at Google+ so I recieved an email with the message “Read and comment about this…” and then I registered.
What benefits are you seeing from being in Google+?
I think Google+ has more than “some of the best things of Facebook and Twitter”. The circles and hangouts are great ways to contact people, also find and share information. I use Docs, Reader, Gmail, Picasa and other. The integration is useful to me, but It can be better.
How does Google+ fit into your life or career?
For journalists, the circles help us to organize our sources. I appreciate that Googleers at Google+ share information and news. Now I have more international friends. But I guess more peruvian will be interested in G+, so they will share their stories. I like Sparks also as a complemen of Reader or Alerts, but there are some problems. For example, synonymous.
A particularly interesting story or thoughts you may want to add regarding Google+
Yes. I’m editor at Clasesdeperiodismo.com, a spanish virtual school for digital journalists. We’re elaborating a free ebook about the uses of G+ for journalists in spanish. We have contacted almost 10 colleagues at Google+ of different countries, not only mi city (Lima, Peru). We interviewed them and we’ll publish their opinions about the potential of G+. The ebook will be online on monday.
