How did you originally get invited to Google+?

I was invited by my friend, Benjamin, on Facebook.

What benefits are you seeing from being in Google+?

As an allergy coach and consultant, I can see that Google+ is a great way to reach people who might be helped by my coaching services. Most importantly, it’s possible to do this in a highly personalized way by making use of circles.

How does Google+ fit into your life or career?

Like most of us, I’m quite busy, and I don’t always have time to get together with friends IRL. I like the fact that with social networks such as Google+, you can follow the events in your friends’ lives and let them know you’re thinking of them. It seems clear to me that social networking has merely begun to demonstrate its true power, especially when it comes to career and business networking purposes. The “six degrees of separation” aspect of social networking is fascinating to me. I’ve had a number of contacts sent my way by people who knew people who knew people.

I’ve been interviewed in newspapers, on the radio, and on TV regarding my allergy work, but social networking seems more powerful in terms of reaching the people who are actually looking for what you have to offer.

An allergy coach, I founded Allergy Coaching International in 2009. We help individuals, schools, and companies cope with and accommodate severe allergies. I founded an allergy support group nearly ten years ago, and began ACI when it became that some members needed more time and attention.

Since I’ve had food and environmental allergies since childhood, I understand what it’s like to live with allergies on a daily basis. It’s not easy to travel, eat in restaurants, or even socialize around food or pets (depending on the allergy), and it’s vital for to learn how to advocate for your safety and/or for that of your allergic children.

Allergists take care of the diagnosis and medical side of things, and that’s essential before hiring an allergy coach, because we don’t do allergy diagnosis or anything of a medical nature.

But if you’re not sure what to do when you leave the allergist’s office with your EpiPen® prescription, how to read a food label for allergens at the supermarket, or book an airline reservation more safely, Allergy Coaching International can help you cope. And if you’re a restaurant owner or school principal who worries about the best way to minimize the chances of a diner or student having an allergic reaction, Allergy Coaching International can provide you with procedures to help reduce that risk.

How did you originally get invited to Google+?

I was on FB reading through the Women of Facebook and a friend “The Goddess Known as Jacqueline” said she had an invite. I immediately said yes…and came in and fumbled my way through. My first post was on the 11th of July. I have made so many mistakes on here…I can only laugh at myself.

What benefits are you seeing from being in Google+?

I will be using Hangouts for Be Glorious Circles moving forward and intend to further the connections of 1 million women re-energising, balancing, growing, connecting and contributing.

I love the fact that almost all of my business is on line. I can send everything to the one place. Every moment I click onto the stream I have an opportunity to learn and I have had conversations with people about business and crazy nothing all in the same thread. I love that everyone has to have their own name.

How does Google+ fit into your life or career?

I have an iPhone – Google + is the first place I go to in the morning now and my emails the third.

I already see it as a complete part of my life. Sharing what I am personally thinking feeling or experiencing, from my perspective of the world.

Reading, enjoying and experiencing other peoples perspectives of the world.

A particularly interesting story or thoughts you may want to add regarding Google+

Yes…I have encountered some extremely funny perspectives of life and my own perspectives have broadened considerably.

I have accidentally published on the wrong streams
I have made spelling errors that changed the entire stream of conversation (still blushing about that)
I have observed blatant ignorance about my own country and had the pure joy of having a lot of fun in the ongoing conversation.
I love that I’m connected across the world and I’m being educated and I have the opportunity to educate.
I am already addicted to the powerful connectivity of this platform.

How did you originally get invited to Google+?

I am am regular reader of the outliner forum – one of the guys (yes, a guy) had invitations at start of July and I asked for one.

What benefits are you seeing from being in Google+?

I find that on the whole, Google+ is much more interesting than other sites (I am an involuntary and infrequent user of Facebook).

Apart from the obvious upfront aspects of privacy, it seems to have more grown ups – or, do people just act a bit more grown up?

I have made connections with total strangers, something I had never done at other sites. Also, it is so much easier to manage the noise here.

How does Google+ fit into your life or career?

I love my official job/career and google+ helps to find interesting people, ideas and trends in some aspects of marketing. At the same time, I am coming to a point in life where the end of career is down the line a while, but still coming into view.

So I am increasingly concentrating on things that fascinate me, but have nothing to do with my job, such as Buddhism, Cognitive Psychology, Coaching, Traveling, Art, and making connections with old friends and total strangers. Google+ is a great way to persue these interests.

A particularly interesting story or thoughts you may want to add regarding Google+

This morning, I read about a very cool Building here in Vienna (where I live) – while that is somewhat humiliating, more importantly – just amazing is that I found it through a “share” done by someone I had never heard of 3 weeks ago, but with whom I seem to share interests and attitudes, who lives in North Carolina.
It is the possibilties that open up to us, to find, by pure serendipity, interesting people, new topics, new perspectives on old topics, etc. that keep me regularly commitng back to google+

Where can I find more information about this fabulous woman?

Born in Austria, grew up in Austria, Afghanistan and the US. Back in Austria since 1978. Love to travel and learn.

My youth in Afghanistan led to an affinity for wide open spaces, history and Buddhism. I can still recall the fascination of standing on the Head on the large Buddha in Band-i-Amir. Since Afghanistan is out of the question, I travel in Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka as well as western US and the Yukon .

Studied IT, but was always more interested in the “people side” – projects never collapse because of technical problems – only because people don’t get along. So I started analyzing and studying not Workflows and Proccesses but people instead.

Got a Masters in Coaching – am an autodidact in cognitive psychology, narrative approaches, organizational change and Buddhism.

I truly believe that we construct our own reality and as such, find Google+ to be a wonderful tool in shaping mine.

How did you originally get invited to Google+?

A friend of mine invited me.

What benefits are you seeing from being in Google+?

So far, my Google+ experience has been amazing, meeting and connecting to wonderful and amazing people across the globe. From bloggers to industry experts, the exposure and accessibility with Google+ is very unique. As an early adopter of G+ I fell in love with the casual yet respectful interaction between users. And since my favorite shape is a circle, I found new uses for my circles doubling as groups and lists simultaneously.

How does Google+ fit into your life or career?

I see Google+ advancing and helping me build better relationships with my clients, peers, and suppliers. Especially that most of my business is conducted remotely.
Also, as a coach, am considering holding Group Coaching sessions/workshops via G+ Hangouts. And am still exploring how it can add more value.

A particularly interesting story or thoughts you may want to add regarding Google+

Down week 2 on Google plus, I decided to revive my Blog on Blogger, as the picture of all things Google started to come together forming a new comprehension for me on how I can use Social Media to reach more people who are interested in my coaching and my consulting services.
